Eyewear: tint, hinges and claims you cannot verify from a photo
Two variables dominate an eyewear row and neither is visible at thumbnail size: lens tint and hinge construction. A grey lens and a green-grey lens look identical in a compressed album image and completely different on a face. Ask for a photo taken against a white sheet so the tint reads honestly.
Hinges decide whether the frame survives a bag. A metal barrel hinge with screws can be tightened; a moulded plastic hinge cannot. Ask for a close-up of the temple arm folded and unfolded, and confirm the frame width in millimetres — album rows rarely list it, but it is the number that determines whether the frame suits you.
UV and polarisation claims are not verifiable from photos and should be treated as marketing unless the seller supplies a test card image. Buy eyewear as a fashion accessory first; if eye protection matters, that is a different purchase from a different supply chain.
